Community Involvement

In addition to the aforementioned activities, Tom and Julie give a tremendous amount of time and financial support to various community building and charitable organizations throughout Grant County.

Tom and Julie are very passionate about investing into the local community, and are great supporters of driving more business to our little town.

Main Street Marion

Main Street Marion is an independent nonprofit downtown association that inspires, unifies, and champions the Downtown Marion Experience. They are the direct connection to the social and business hub of downtown Marion and are 100% funded by donations. Their mission is to promote and stimulate the downtown Marion economy through a four -point approach system - design, economic restructuring, organization, and promotions. Tom Gearhart is a member and supporter of this association and is proud to be a part of the downtown Marion experience.


Grant County Community Foundation

The team at the Community Foundation is deeply passionate about Grant County. Tom Gearhart is the Finance Chairman on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation and has been involved with the organization for 9 years. The mission of the Community Foundation is to connect people, resources, and causes to promote sustainable impact towards the betterment of Grant County. 


Lightrider Ministries, Inc

Lightrider Ministries is a faith based, ministry outreach based out of Upland, Indiana. While their organization started as a mobile retreat, using a double-decker motor coach as a tool for ministry, they have expanded to also include two outreach locations in Upland: the RedBarn and GreyBarn. These buildings serve as hubs to minister and connect with local children and seniors, and meet a great community need. Tom Gearhart was a member of the Board of Directors for many years, contributes financially, and has been involved with the organization for 29 years. 


Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce

The Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce, located in Marion, Indiana, is focused on fostering a healthy and vibrant local economy. To cultivate an environment for business growth and sustainability, the Chamber has pledged to provide business support, networking opportunities, advocacy, educational and peer outreach for the business community. Tom is a long time member of The Chamber and is a strong supporter of their initiatives to grow the local economy.


Marion Rotary Club

The Marion Rotary Club is a part of Rotary International, a service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. As a member of the Marion Rotary Club, Tom Gearhart extends their mission to his personal life by exemplifying the Rotarian’s primary motto of, “Service above Self”.


Mount Olive United Methodist Church

Tom and Julie have attended Mount Olive UMC for 23 years and Tom is actively involved as an adult class discussion leader. Mt. Olive was founded in 1871 and has remained a rock in the Marion community. In all they do as a church, Mt. Olive strives to: love God, love others, & love service.
